Queer comedy Twinless, starring Teen Wolf favourite Dylan O’Brien, will hit cinemas in September, it has been announced.
The film, which co-stars James Sweeney, who also wrote, directed and produced the film, features two men who meet in a twin bereavement support group and start a bromance.
O’Brien, also known for his roles in The Maze Runner trilogy and Fantasmas, plays twin brothers, one straight, the other queer. His performance won him the US dramatic special jury award for acting at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, where the movie premiered. Twinless won the audience award: US dramatic.
Now, Variety has reported that Twinless has been sold to Roadside Attractions and Lionsgate who will distribute the film in the US on 5 September. Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions will be responsible for the international distribution but no release date has been given as yet.

“I’m holding ample space for Twinless and look forward to overthinking future press quotes,” Sweeney joked.
O’Brien told Variety that one particularly emotional scene was ” the most naked thing I’ve ever had to do on a set”.
Eric d’Arbeloff and Howard Cohen, the co-founders of Roadside Attractions, hailed Twinless as a “genuine comedic crowd pleaser and sophisticated examination of male friendship in the internet age”, and called Sweeney “a generational talent both in front of and behind the camera,”. O’Brien’s performance was “nothing less than a star-defining turn”, they added.
The film is currently enjoying a 95 per cent rating on the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes.
