As rescuers and zoo personnel rushed toward the enclosure, the tension in the crowd became unbearable. People held their breath, fearing the worst — the gorilla was inching closer to the child. Some couldn’t bear to watch and had already turned away.
But what happened next stunned everyone.
The gorilla, breathing deeply, stopped just before the child. A hush fell over the area. Slowly, she extended her arm… but didn’t harm the boy. Instead — she gently pulled him into a soft embrace, pressing him against her chest as if shielding him.
