Couples Debate Whether A Popular Online Activity Is Cheating: ‘Break Up With Them On The Spot’

The definition of cheating is something people have debated for years, and as relationships evolve, so do the challenges that come with them. One modern issue in particular has sparked a fresh discussion.

With the way people connect shifting drastically over the years, relationships have had to adapt. Online interactions have blurred lines that were once clear-cut.

One recent trend has many questioning whether it falls under the category of infidelity or if it’s just another form of entertainment.

That trend? OnlyFans.

The question here isn’t whether having an OnlyFans account to sell content would be considered cheating. Instead, it’s about how subscribing to the platform as a paying customer fits into a committed relationship.

To gauge public opinion, Australian news outlet News.com.au surveyed a large group of people to see how they felt about it. Their responses were surprisingly divided.

In total, 1,870 people were asked whether they believed subscribing to an OnlyFans creator counted as cheating.

These kinds of debates aren’t new. In the past, couples have argued over whether watching traditional pornography is a form of betrayal.

Before that, there were probably heated discussions about whether flipping through a Playboy magazine crossed the line.

Despite all the changes in technology and access to adult content, people still can’t seem to agree on where the boundary is.

According to the poll results, 56 percent of women firmly believe that if their partner subscribes to a content creator on OnlyFans, it is ‘definitely cheating.’

By comparison, only 38 percent of men share this view. A larger portion—48 percent of men—said it depends on the type of interactions involved, a perspective shared by 36 percent of women.

Interestingly, just 9 percent of women and 15 percent of men felt that it was completely normal for someone in a relationship to interact with and consume content from OnlyFans creators.

One major factor that adds complexity to this debate is that subscribers on OnlyFans can directly message content creators, and in many cases, these messages can be explicit.

One woman strongly voiced her opinion on the matter, saying: “If you’re paying for something, interacting and have a particular person of interest, that’s definitely cheating,”

Her friend backed her up, adding that the amount of money spent on subscriptions also plays a big role in how serious it is.

Another man weighed in on the discussion, describing the act as disrespectful and stating that subscribing to an OnlyFans creator while in a relationship clearly crosses a line.

He further explained his stance, saying: “If I was with someone for say five years, I’d be like, ‘what’s going on here?'”

He added: “That would be a big fight. Whereas with someone new? Bye.”

However, not everyone in the discussion saw it the same way. Two other men argued that subscribing to an OnlyFans account isn’t comparable to a traditional affair and shouldn’t be treated the same.

So, what do you think? Would this be an immediate dealbreaker for you, or do you believe context matters before making a decision?

Or do you think it’s completely fine and not something that should be a cause for concern in a relationship?
